Elite Athlete Grant 2024 Application Information

Students registered with the Elite Athlete Friendly University Program at ANU Access and Inclusion can access up to $1000 in funding: 

Semester 1 applications open Monday 8th January and close Friday 21st June 2024, for sporting events held between 1 January and 30 June 2024.

Semester 2 applications open Monday 22nd July and close Friday 15th November 2024, for sporting events held between 1 July and 31 December 2024.

ANU Sport Scholarship 

The ANU Sport Scholarship provides $5000 per annum to an individual that is enrolled or enrolling in an ANU program, with a history of or potential for athletic excellence. 

This scholarship is open to all new students to the ANU, who can demonstrate a history of or potential for sporting excellence, supported by an affiliated club or sporting organisation. Undergraduate, postgraduate coursework or higher degree research program students, as well as both domestic and international students, are welcome to apply.

Aquathlon

Bachelor of Science

Nick competed at the 2023 Aquathlon World Championships which took place as a part of the larger World Triathlon Multisport World Championships in Ibiza, Spain. He was the only elite athlete from Australia to participate in the Aquathlon discipline, placing 15th in the Junior Boys division.

Cross Country Skiing

Bachelor of Laws (Honours)/Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics

Hannah competed at the 2023 World Winter University Games in Lake Placid, USA. She competed in 5 events over the 10 days of competiton, and placed 10th with her partner in the team sprint, as well as making the top 50 in the 15km event.

Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of International Relations

Sebastian competed at the U23/Open Track and Field National Championships in Brisbane. He ran the 5000m event in a time of 15:35 in the warm conditions, and gained valuable experience racing at a high-level competition.

Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences

Alexandra competed at the U24 World Ultimate Champtionships in Nottingham, UK. In her first time representing Australia, her team placed 11th in the mixed division.

Cross Country Skiing

Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Commerce

Seve competed in the 2023 FIS World Nordic Ski Championships in Panica, Slovenia. Competing in multiple events, he placed 18th in the Team Sprint, 64th in the Sprint, 52nd in the 30km and 63rd in the 15km, his best World Championship results to date.

Bachelor of Commerce

Poom competed in the 2023 Asian Junior and Cadet Fencing Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, in both the U20 Junior and team competitions. He finished 26th in the Individual Junior Men's Sabre and 10th in the team event.

Cross Country Skiing

Bachelor of Accounting/Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics

John competed in both the World Junior Championships in Whistler, Canada and the World University Games in Lake Placid, USA. In the World Junior Championships, he placed 59th in the Sprint, 59thin the 10km Classic, and 66th in the 10km Skate Pursuit. At the World University Games, he placed 68th in the Sprint, 73rd in the 10km Classic, and 71st in the Skate Pursuit.

Bachelor of Laws (Honours)/Bachelor of Science (Psychology)

Kirsty competed in the 2023 UniSport Australia Triathlon Championships in St Kilda, Melbourne. She enjoyed the course and performed well, coming 1st.

Bachelor of Science

Toby competed in the 2023 National Orienteering League, which consisted of 4 rounds and a final in different locations across Australia. In the Oceania Championships, he had 3 podium places in Sprint, Long and Relay. Overall, he placed 6th in the Junior men's category, with the ACT team coming 2nd overall.

Bachelor of Criminology

Ewan competed in the 2023 Sydney Sprint Weekend, which was he second round of the National Orienteering League. He finished 4th in the Individual Sprint, 1st in the Knockout Sprint, and his sprint relay team was the first senior elite team.

Bachelor of Design/Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences

Duncan competed in the 2023 Kings Birthday Australia/New Zealand Test Match, in various locations in New Zealand. This consisted of sprint, middle, and long distance events. Unfortunately, the New Zealand team were too strong, but Duncan was the best Australian in the M21E.

Bachelor of Health Science

Isabella competed in the 2023 World Winter University Games in Lake Placid, USA, representing both the ANU and Australia. As one of the youngest in the age category, she did very well to place 42nd in both the Women's 7.5km Sprint and 12.5km Short Individual, as well as 12th in the Single Mixed Relay.

Bachelor of Philosophy - Science

Matthew competed in the 2023 Australian National Canoe Polo Championships in Ballarat, Victoria. His team came 1st in the Open Men's division, claiming their second consecutive national title.

Bachelor of Psychology (Honours)

Bella competed at the Australasian 24-hour Rogaining Championships in Lake Tekapo, New Zealand. Finishing first place in the Youth Women's division with fellow elite athlete Abby Kidston.

Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) - Science

Abby competed as a part of a team with Bella Lilford and Chloe Woodburn in the 24-hour event at the Australasian Rogaining Championships in Lake Tekapo, new Zealand. The trio claimed first place in the Women's Youth 24-hour event.

Sailing

Bachelor of Law and International Security

Sylvie was one of 6 Australians chosen to compete at the Sailing World Championships in The Hague. She placed 50th out of 110 sailors, and was one of the youngest sailors in the Gold Fleet Finals.

Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) - Science

David competed at the 2023 Junior World Orienteering Championships in Romania. He enjoyed running in a new environment and meeting new people.

Triathlon

Bachelor of Law/Bachelor of Science

Zoe represented Australia at the Asia Cup in Kota, Kinabalu, where she place first in the Elite Women classification.

Netball

Bachelor of Medical Science

Milla played for the Capital Darters in the Australian Netball Championships, held in Morayfield, Queensland. Playing in a total of 6 games across the week, her team played the Northern Territory for 10th.
