Elite Athlete Grant 2024 Application Information
Students registered with the Elite Athlete Friendly University Program at ANU Access and Inclusion can access up to $1000 in funding:
Semester 1 applications open Monday 8th January and close Friday 21st June 2024, for sporting events held between 1 January and 30 June 2024.
Semester 2 applications open Monday 22nd July and close Friday 15th November 2024, for sporting events held between 1 July and 31 December 2024.
ANU Sport Scholarship
The ANU Sport Scholarship provides $5000 per annum to an individual that is enrolled or enrolling in an ANU program, with a history of or potential for athletic excellence.
This scholarship is open to all new students to the ANU, who can demonstrate a history of or potential for sporting excellence, supported by an affiliated club or sporting organisation. Undergraduate, postgraduate coursework or higher degree research program students, as well as both domestic and international students, are welcome to apply.
AIS Scholarship
Athletes pursing a higher education are encouraged to apply for the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Athlete Education Scholarship as the AIS furthers its investment in athletes to Win Well.
Cross Country Skiing
Bachelor of Science & Bachelor of Economics
Fedele competed at the U23 Nordic Ski Championships, Planica, Slovenia. He competed in the 20km, 10km and the Mixed Relay, in which they placed 14th and made the top 65 in his other two events.
Road Cycling
Bachelor of Economics, Bachelor of Political Science
Robert competed in the Oceania Cycling Championships, Brisbane festival of cycling and Tour de Brisbane in April 2024. He placed 4th in the Brisbane Festival of Cycling and his teams effort paid off in the Tour de Brisbane with their lead cycler placing 5th.
Athletics - Long Distance Running
Bachelor of International Security/Science
Aiden competed in the National Athletics championships in Adelaide representing Victoria. He came in 3rd in the 3000m steeplechase. He also competed in the Unigames National Championships in the same event and outstandingly achieved 1st place.
Atheltics - Middle Distance Running
Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of International Relations
Seb competed In the Warehouse Australian Athletics Championship in Adelaide. He competed in both the 1500m and the 5000m advancing to 1/3 timed finals in the 5000m. He placed 13th overall in 1500m and 10th in the 5000m.
Athletics
Bachelor of Law (Honours)/Bachelor of International Relations
Imogen travelled to Byron Bay (Runaway Bay) to compete in athletics. She competed in the 400m hurdles where she placed 7th and the 100m hurdles where she placed 18th.
Swimming
Bachelor of Engineering R&D (Honours)/Bachelor of Science
Andrew travelled to Sydney to compete in the Unisport Swimming Nationals/Sydney Open. He competed against many world champions and olympians and swum very close to a seasons best, despite being so early on in his training for this season!
Triathlon
Bachelor of Economics/ Bachelor of Applied Data Analytics
Rory competed in the 2024 Asian Triathlon Cup in the Philippines and China in May. He placed 4th in the Subic Bay (Philippines) triathlon and in Taizhou (China) he placed 13th.
Canoe Polo and Canoe Marathon
Bachelor of Philosophy (Science)
Matthew travelled to South Australia to compete in the 2024 PA canoe Marathon Championships. He competed in the U23 Men's Kayak Single long course where he achieved first place and became the National Champion. He also competed in the Senior Men's Kayak Doubles where they placed 3rd and the Senior Men's Kayak Single Short Course where he placed 10th.
Triathlon
Bachelor of Law/ Bachelor of Science
Zoe attended a 6-week training camp in Geelong which finished with the Elite Oceania Cup in Wanaka, New Zealand. She placed 12th in this event, coming out of the swim in 1st place.
Football (Soccer)
Doctor of Medicine and Surgery
Saskia travelled to Denver Colorado with the Deaf Football Australia Women's National Team to compete against the Reigning World and Deaflympic champions, the USA women's Deaf National Team. This was the first Deaf Womens Football match to be broadcasted live on national TV and had a crowd of 18,000. During this match Saskia held the role of Vice Captain.
Canoe Polo
Bachelor of Economics
Jessica attended the 2024 Australia Squad Training Camps, the Australian Canoe Polo Summer series and the Invitational Competitions, and the results she achieved culminated in her being selected for the Australian Under 21 Womens Canoe Polo Team.
Orienteering
Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences/Bachelor of Design
Duncan competed in the 2024 Kings Birthday Australia/New Zealand Test match. Whilst the Australian Team was unfortunately defeated by the New Zealand team who were too strong on their own turf, Duncan was named the Best Australian in the M21E in all races and came 4th overall in their sprint distance.
Biathlon and Cross-Country Skiing
Bachelor of Health Science
From November to Mid-March, Isabella travelled to Slovenia, Italy, Poland, Estonia and Austria to compete and train! Most notably, she competed in the 2024 World Junior Championships in Estonia. Her most recent results were 85th and 88th in the Biathlon and Cross-Country Skiing.
